Survivors of Suicide Loss Day 2024, also known as International Survivors of Suicide Loss Day, is a day of remembrance and support for those who have lost loved ones to suicide. It provides an opportunity for survivors to connect, share their experiences, and find comfort and healing in a community of understanding individuals.
What is Survivors of Suicide Loss Day?
Survivors of Suicide Loss Day is an annual event which aims to bring together survivors of suicide loss, provide resources for coping with grief, and reduce the stigma surrounding suicide and mental health.
When is Survivors of Suicide Loss Day 2024?
In 2024, Survivors of Suicide Loss Day will be observed on November 23rd, providing an opportunity for survivors to come together and support one another.
How to Participate in Survivors of Suicide Loss Day 2024?
Participating in Survivors of Suicide Loss Day can be a meaningful way to find support and healing. Here are ways to get involved:
- Attend an Event: Join a local or virtual Survivors of Suicide Loss Day event in your community or participate in the national events.

International Day for People Impacted by Suicide Loss (IDPISL) is Saturday, November 23rd, 2024. On this day people impacted by suicide loss will come together to foster community, to remember loved ones, and to share stories of loss, healing, and hope.
To recognize this year’s day, the Canadian Association for Suicide Prevention (CASP) will host an online event entitled, “Navigating the Holiday Season when Living with Loss” with special guest Dr. Lara Schultz. The holiday season can be a difficult time for those bereaved by suicide loss. Please join us to learn more about coping with the holiday season and other life events, while living with suicide loss.
Coordinated by CASP’s People Impacted by Suicide Working Group, this year’s event will include a time for reflection as we gather to observe this special day. The event will be held in English on

Lara Schultz, PhD, is a psychologist who has specialized in grief and bereavement over the past 20 years. She is the founder of the Conroy Grief Centre in Victoria BC, a private clinical practice where she provides counselling to bereaved adults. Dr Schultz has presented and published on a range of topics related to grief and loss. Her doctoral research focused on the lived experience of parental suicide bereavement for emerging adults.
