As of January 14, 2022, we have been significantly affected by an outbreak of the COVID-19 virus which escalated over the last 2 days at our Brant Safe Beds Program. Therefore, we are determining the program to be at risk due to COVID related staffing shortages and issues. Brant Public Health has been involved throughout.
Fortunately none of the residents have a confirmed or suspected case of COVID. The outbreak itself, pending no additional positive cases develop in the next few days, will last for 5 to 7 days, as declared today. We looked into staff redeployment, but simply do not have the HR personnel to continue the service at a safe level at this time, plus virus containment at one program is paramount at this time.
The immediate impact on the program is as that no new referrals will be accepted until we reassess the situation early next week.
The CSB in Simcoe remains virus free and that may be a viable option for referrals over the next few days. They have three beds available as of today.
We thank you for your understanding with this difficult matter.
